Merlefest 2011 – Twelfth Day of Never, as sung by Doc Watson

“The Twelfth Day of Never” (which that plays at the end of this video) is really one of the most lovely ballads I’ve ever heard.  People just don’t write lyrics like this anymore.  Originally written by Paul Francis Webster and Jerry Livingston the song was as an adaptation of an old English lullaby, “The Riddle Song” or “I Gave my Love a Cherry” then it was recorded by Nina Simone, Elvis Presley, and The Carter Twins.  But I think I’ve fallen in love with Doc’s version, which we recorded live on our trip Merlefest 2011 – the tune comes in at the second half of this video.

Soundtrack for Rachel Wynne & Expandance

This is a collaborative project in which we were so happy to be included.  The soundtrack is our tune “Within/Without”.  Our friend Rachel is  such a wonderful dancer, and is a beautiful human being as well.
